If you've run a Music League season, none of this needs explaining: a theme goes up, everyone brings one track, you listen without knowing who picked what, and the points settle it. BlendMyx runs that game with the group itself as the unit — a private Blend that keeps its own rounds, its own chat, and a scoreboard that remembers every round.
The practical difference most groups notice first: nobody has to connect a personal Spotify account. Song search and the playlists a round produces run on the BlendMyx side, so the friend who's on Apple Music, YouTube, or nothing at all can still play the whole season.
A Blend is private by default and needs an invite to get in. Share the join link with your group, or list it publicly if you'd rather play with strangers. Up to 50 members.
Every round is one prompt — a mood, a decade, a rule, a very specific situation — with its own submission and voting deadlines.
Search the catalogue or paste a Spotify link. One track each — no stuffing the round. You can attach a short "why this one?" note and keep it hidden until the results land.
You get the tracks with no names attached and a points budget to spend — 10 points, up to 4 on any one song, by default. Your own submission isn't on your ballot. Prefer a strict ranking? Set the Blend to 5/3/1, 3/2/1, or a sequence you write yourself.
The round reveals who submitted what and how it ranked, then the points roll into the season standings. Save the round as a playlist, and when the Blend finishes, a winners playlist collects the top track from every scored round.
Music League is a good game, and plenty of people reading this are happily mid-season in one. So here's the honest version rather than a table of ticks and crosses.
Both run themed rounds inside a league. Both ask each player for one song per round. Both score with points, hand you a playlist of the round to listen through, and add each round's points up across a season toward an overall winner. No player links a personal Spotify account. Catalog search runs server-side and round playlists are created in a BlendMyx-side account, so a member without Spotify can still play in full.
Submitting and listening go through Spotify — you search or paste a Spotify link, and the round arrives as a Spotify playlist. Free Spotify accounts work, and the integration can be disconnected from Spotify's own settings.
You spend an exact budget — 10 points by default, at most 4 on a single song — and never on your own track. Or switch the whole Blend to ranked scoring: 5/3/1, 3/2/1, or a custom sequence. There are no downvotes.
You assign votes across the round's songs, and downvotes are available to make a strong opinion known.
Every Blend has a group chat thread, plus direct messages between members, plus the optional note a submitter can attach to a track and keep sealed until the reveal.
You can leave comments on songs as you vote.
